Disconnection

2.1

Everytime it rained he got disconnected

Watching through the window, he saw everything outside was stuck looping through the same few frames of movement.

It was beautiful to watch through, and to know a moment of true solitude.

2.2

Lagging out of reality was pleasant. No interruptions and a perfectly valid excuse for being unavailable.

It wasn’t worth doing anything productive though; as soon as you reconnected the server discarded your progress. According to it, you’d just been standing there, motionless.

2.3

There’s a certain point in the morning where it feels like you’re the only person in the city.
And maybe at that moment, in every way that matters, you are.
